It was kind of chaos from the get go at this park...they didn't have our reservation in their computer, so had to start all over before getting our site. The check-in girls were super helpful and sweet to help to get us all set up though...sooo thankful for that!!! Our site was really big and right at the top of the Boardwalk going down to the beach. Interesting that you share your electrical box with your neighboring sites though but it worked out fine. You get a nice firepit and picnic table at each site. Lots of huge trees all around campground. Beach for the most part was nice and went of forever with really nice sand. Lots of picnic tables and benches to sit at if your not in the water. They have a nice Pavillion/Store too to buy ice cream, other treats and supplies at. Also Firewood to purchase for $7.00 and Ice for $4.50. Not the best scenario for fishing from shore at this place, very shallow but people were catching small sunfish. We had a good crowd around us at our site location so we were thankful for that! If you want peace while staying there come at the beginning of the week but weekend are crazy and a bit loud there. We thought it was fine camping there but think we will try somewhere else next time in this area.
We have been going to this park for 5 generations. We love this park, but it is time to upgrade this park. It is in desperate need of a playground for the kids. The sites are not level, no grass , and lots of tree roots. It's somewhat difficult to menuver your rv threw tight spaces. The north bathrooms need upgraded along with the dump station. They have improved the water fill on the check in side that is very nice, and the check in progress is good. Everyone is friendly. We love this park and will continue to camp here. I just feel the state could improve on this park.
Nice state park with sand beach. There are multiple points to access the water from the campground including a wheelchair accessible deck on the beach. A new fishing pier was waiting for installation.
We camp here every year! Beach is huge and there is a second one if it gets too crowded. The sites are mostly good sizes, be careful tho there are a few that have a TON of tree roots through them and make them almost inhabitable. Nice to have an ice cream shop. Only thing that could make it better is full hookup. North end bathrooms could use some updating too.
Great place for the family to go and swim. Its not super crowded most of the time. Great beach and water access for kids of all ages. Has a little store there with sunscreen and stuff. Changing areas could be cleaner but overall a great place to take the family swimming.
First time visiting. This is a beautiful park and I will defiantly be back. Next time we will bring the kayaks as they have the perfect lake for it. The showers are the only thing that needs to change. I'm all for water conservation but other posters stated they were not kidding when they said that there is NO water pressure. The bathhouses and bathrooms were clean and well maintained however.
First time tenting in this state park. Lots of trees which is great for putting up hammocks. Had a decent view of the water even though we didn’t have a water side site. The north end of the park definitely needs an update on the bath and showers. Clean but outdated for sure. The south end of the park has the updated bathhouse and restrooms which were nice. There is a camp store on the property owned by the dnr but rented by a third party. You can get firewood, ice and miscellaneous items there. There is also a party store across the street you can get firewood from as well. You are on a main road into Gaylord so there is lots of traffic noise. It does die down later at night. Also you are on the train tracks and they do come through. Only heard one in the four days we were there. Overall, I would recommend and we will be back!
Nice basic State park with a great beach area, boat launch, clean bathrooms and showers. No full hookup sites, only 30 and 50amp electric. No water or sewer hook up. Shared Water spigot around 100 feet from site. Sites are very sandy and not very level.
